Manghi Czech Republic: Italian craft, Prague heritage
Italy has given the world some of its most celebrated architectural landmarks—St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Milan’s Duomo, and Florence’s Pitti Palace among them. That culture of building excellence lives on in Manghi Czech Republic, a family company with roots in Parma that has been shaping Prague’s historic and luxury spaces for decades.
From Parma to Prague, since 1993
Manghi’s story begins in 1964, when Franco Manghi chose construction as his life’s work. After starting with industrial projects—factories and warehouses—the momentum of Italy’s economic boom encouraged the company to move into more ambitious residential and commercial developments. This expansion eventually reached the Czech Republic, where Manghi entered the market in 1993.
Today the company is led by Franco Manghi together with his son Danilo, and they often describe it as “a Czech company with Italian blood”: local in its presence and operations, Italian in its heritage and sensibility.
A long-term partner for Prague’s historic center
Over the years, Manghi established itself in Prague’s historic core as a developer and general contractor focused on high-end residential, hospitality, and retail projects. Its work is defined by a delicate balance: preserving the original character of historic buildings while meeting modern standards and expectations.
Among the company’s well-known projects is La Corte, where four neglected late-18th-century buildings were transformed into a complex of 25 apartments and several office spaces. Another notable example is the reconstruction of a historic building in Bolzanova Street near the Main Railway Station, where Manghi restored the original Art Deco style of apartments and commercial premises.
Hotels as a signature segment
A significant part of Manghi’s portfolio in the past decade has been hospitality. In central Prague, the company contributed to projects such as Hotel Caruso, located in a 19th-century Neo-Renaissance building and offering 47 rooms. The conversion into the five-star Hotel Thalia also stands among the company’s recognized hotel transformations.
Luxury retail on Pařížská Street
In recent years, Manghi has been especially active in the refurbishment and ongoing maintenance of luxury retail spaces. Many interiors along Pařížská Street—home to some of Prague’s most prestigious boutiques—have been executed by Manghi Czech Republic’s teams. The company’s references include renovations for international brands such as Bulgari, Moncler, Patek Philippe, Montblanc, and Prada.
Why Manghi stands out
Manghi Czech Republic covers a broad range of real-estate and construction services, including the renovation of apartment buildings. Its competitive edge lies in combining Italian design culture and craftsmanship with deep experience in Czech heritage architecture.
The company also supports projects end-to-end: from zoning and permitting, through phased planning and execution, to full construction management and on-site supervision. It can additionally assist with selecting designers and specialized suppliers, ensuring each project achieves a consistent standard of quality and a distinctive, refined outcome.
Q&A with Danilo Manghi, CEO
Why did Manghi decide to enter the Czech market in 1993?
“My father, Franco Manghi, wanted to expand the family business and bring our experience in real estate into a new environment. The Czech market was very attractive—Prague has extraordinary architecture, and at the time many buildings were waiting to be renovated. Prices were also very low compared to Western Europe.”
How is renovating luxury boutiques different from other projects?
“It is more demanding in every way. To win these contracts, a company must have strong references. Clients expect top-tier quality and a highly professional approach, and the schedule is extremely strict. What we do in six months in a residential building, we must complete in two months for a boutique. At the same time, it remains a competitive segment, so you must also offer a relevant price.”
Your offices are on Pařížská Street—why choose that location?
“It is a strategic decision. We immediately learn about what is happening in the area, including construction developments, and we can supervise our projects more closely and ensure faster property management. We also build on three generations of family experience. We specialize in historic buildings, where we preserve original details while meeting the highest current standards. For each project we invite experts from both the Czech Republic and Italy, which helps us remain reliable and flexible.”
